Chapter 220 Ronny's Request

Chapter 220 Ronny's Request

*Ding*

Although the new Heavenly Demonic Shop was styled differently from the Seven Sparks Forge store, it harboured some similarities with the former. A notable exam was the bell that hung behind the door. Whenever the door was pushed open, the bell would be rung, signifying that a guest had stepped in.

Lucas, who just left the kitchen, glanced at the door just in time to see a group of five men walk into the store.

While he was a bit surprised, Lucas didn't feel much about it. Occasionally, there would be a customer or two, but in the end, they would all leave without buying anything.

The reason for this was simple; the prices of the items were absurd from their perspective.

One should know that compared to Belfargos city-state, the other city-states' vestige-smith technology was behind. City-states like Baylands revered Tier 1 Master vestige-smiths and had very few of them. However, in Belfargos city-state, Tier 1 Masters, although not exaggeratedly plentiful, were a lot. There were even a few Tier 1 Master vestige-smiths; characters who could make Grade 5 vestiges.

With the absence of Tier 1 Apex vestige-smiths, who made Grade 6 vestiges, the highest rank in Eretre was Tier 1 Grandmaster. And it just so happened that over ninety percent (90%) of them were all gathered in Belfargos city-state. Thanks to so many grandmasters being present, they were able to foster more vestige-smiths and even Tier 1 Masters.

Apart from the high concentration of skilled vestige-smiths, Belfargos city-state was also rich in resources. Being the only city-state on the Bernin continent, the entire continent's resources was theirs to use. With so much resources, vestige-smiths were able to produce even more vestiges which was why the occupation flourished here. The abundance of resources also attracted foreign vestige-smiths to relocate here, and the industry became saturated.

All these factors made it difficult for new stores to be able to stand out and seize a portion of the market. To stand a chance, these stores would sell at low prices, offer discounts, or promo events, all just to attract customers. Although this wasn't a sure-fire method, it still gave them a slight chance at survival.

However, Lucas' Heavenly Demonic Shop didn't do any of that. There were no discounts, coupons, of special sales available, and with his vestiges costing more than other stores, it was inevitable that he would fail to attract any customer.

As such, when Lucas saw the group of five, he only had a slight reaction to their presence.

"W, welcome." Melissa stuttered as she glanced at the group.

Recently, she had been helping Lucas with the store because she was bored and tired or staying upstairs all the time. But also, Melissa wanted to conquer her social anxiety. Lucas was impressed by her guts and agreed to the idea. With the system's protection, he didn't need to worry about her within the store.

"Oh, hey there little lady." One of the men smiled at her.

He was a father and seeing Melissa, he was reminded of his little daughter back at home in a different city. Unfortunately, the life of a pioneer was one filled with danger and work. They usually spent a lot of time away from home, and barely returned often. The man couldn't help but wonder how his daughter was doing.

"Fine." Melissa muttered shyly.

Ronny nodded at Melissa before turning towards Lucas.

At first, he was surprised by Lucas. It wasn't because the latter was carrying a tray with plates of food. Instead, it was because he could sense that Lucas was a human.

Hyumans had an innate ability to be able to feel a resonance with each other. It was a strange sensation that couldn't exactly be put in words, but it only occurred upon seeing the other side. Whenever a hyuman glanced at an individual and didn't get this feeling, it could only mean that the other side was either of a different species or a human.

Humans weren't rare in Belfargos city-state. On the contrary, there were quite a few of them. The reason was because Belfargos was more accepting of humans than any other city-state, with Digress city-state being the only exception. This was the main reason Lucas had relocated here.

Apparently, it had to do with the fact that the major backer of humanity lived here. Find your next read at empire

Digress city-state was a unique city-state in the sense that it was the only city-state majorly populated by humans and hybrids. However, because of its uniqueness, it became a target for other city-states. If it were left alone, it would eventually be attacked by the other city-states who suspected it to be a base of terrorists. Whether this suspicion was true or false didn't matter to them.

Just when everyone thought that the city-state of Digress would fall, a powerhouse from Belfargos City had relayed an order that prevented the other city-states from attacking. He also helped Digress city-state receive official recognition from the Emperor, granting them an official status and preventing the other city-states from having thoughts against them. After all, there was an imperial edict which prevented city-states officially recognised under the Oklo Dynasty from attacking one another.

The man who had helped save Digress city-state lived in Belfargos City, and with his presence here, Belfargos city-state became a safe zone for humans.

There was also the fact that the federal law treated all species as equal. It would be ironic for the capital of Eretre to blatantly disregard this law, even if Eretre was seen as a backwater.

Ronny brushed off his concerns about the species of the store owner and focused on the person instead. In Belfargos city-state, there were no lack of stores with human employees.

"I need an appraisal done on this."

This was the first service Ronny would request from a store. If they managed to identify the ring to be an artefact, he would then ask for more clues. Eighty after that, he would place an order request for the ring to be fixed, if possible.

So far, Ronny had visited about seventeen stores, but only six of them made it past the first round by identifying the ring as an artefact. All six, however, gave different opinions on what the ring could be, with two of them claiming it to be duds. However, Ronny didn't believe any of them since they couldn't really give a solid explanation for their 'analysis'. As such, no store has reached up to the third stage.

Although he was somewhat hopeful that the truth would eventually come to light, Ronny doubted it would be in this store.
