Buzz… Buzz…

The cellphone began to vibrate.

Lin Mo glanced at the screen and discovered the caller was a string of unfamiliar numbers.

Very few people knew his number, and Lin Mo had a service set up that rejected calls from numbers not listed in his contacts.

So anyone calling him from an unknown number must be no ordinary person.

Who could it be?

Lin Mo hesitated for a moment but eventually slid his finger across the screen and chose to answer the call.

“Hi, Mr. Lin.”

A middle-aged man’s voice sounded, speaking in very broken Chinese, “Our boss would like to meet with you, is it convenient for you?”

Boss?

If they were calling him, they must certainly know something about him.

Lin Mo knew it was unlikely that he could refuse, and if his prior intelligence was correct, he could also guess the caller’s identity.

It was probably the Faulkner Family, who had actually governed America for over fifty years.

Several members of their family had become Dukes, and many more worked in various government departments, effectively having control over America.

Similar to the Morgan family and the Bryan family, they were nothing more than employees for them.

The iron stronghold, the ebbing soldiers!

The stronghold referred to them!

Despite Johnson Foster’s currently overwhelming advantage, to actually become a Duke, he would still need the approval of this family.

Having caused so much stir in America recently, Lin Mo couldn’t possibly have evaded this family’s scrutiny.

And he had long been prepared to meet them.

“I have time, where are you?” Lin Mo asked.

The middle-aged man on the phone replied, “We will send someone to pick you up from your home, please wait there for us.”

“Okay.” Lin Mo hung up the call.

Li Jinwen noticed his expression was a bit off and frowned, “Honey, is there some trouble again?”

“No, just an old friend who wishes to see me.” Lin Mo smiled and shook his head, choosing not to reveal the truth: “I will be stepping out for a bit, don’t wait up for me for dinner.”

He wasn’t worried about the Faulkner Family making moves on his family, because Lin Mo had an ace up his sleeve for protection.

In order to control the Duke of America, Lin Mo meticulously prepared for two years, considering all possibilities.

That included the Faulkner Family as well.

After chatting with Li Jinwen for a while, Lin Mo went to his bedroom to change into a sharp suit and then left the house to board a business car waiting at the door.

There was already someone in the car, none other than Johnson Hester.

The panicked Hester, upon seeing Lin Mo, seemed to find a backbone and apologized, “Mr. Lin, I’m sorry, I had no choice but to give them your name.”

“You should know, the Faulkner family’s power is too strong, even if I hadn’t said….”

He feared the Faulkner Family, but he was equally wary of Lin Mo.

And he had never dreamt that the Faulkner family’s influence would be so formidable; he always thought they were just a typical bureaucratic family.

Just that they had more members serving in government.

But…

Only when Johnson Foster truly became capable of competing for the position of Duke did Hester finally witness the terrifying reach of this family.

Without exaggeration, the power he saw them wield exceeded that of all the other notable families combined, and it was almost unbelievably incredible.

This family could wipe the Johnson family off the map without drawing public attention with just a single command.

“Alright, Mr. Foster, calm down.” Lin Mo consoled him but didn’t say much else.

Johnson Foster didn’t dare to speak again.

As the car had no windows, they could only feel it speeding along but had no idea of their location.

There was no cellphone signal either.

About three hours later, the business car finally came to a stop.

The car door opened.

A polite middle-aged man said, “Mr. Lin, Mr. Foster, please get out of the car.”

Lin Mo was the first to exit, followed by a flustered Foster.

They were now in an unknown underground parking lot, neatly lined with hundreds of expensive luxury cars.

It was as if they had entered a luxury car show.

Next to them was an elevator.

The middle-aged man led them into the elevator and then pressed a floor button without any numerical marking.

The elevator began to ascend slowly.

It wasn’t until they left the underground garage that Lin Mo and Foster realized they were in a panoramic elevator, surrounded by transparent glass. Looking out from the elevator, they were right in the heart of the bustling city.

Lin Mo hadn’t realized what was happening yet, but Hester exclaimed in surprise, “This angle… we… are we inside the Statue of Liberty???”

As part of any American, it was improbable not to know about the Statue of Liberty, and most would have visited here, so they were very familiar with the layout.

The middle-aged man didn’t answer his question.

Lin Mo, however, found it quite stylish; he hadn’t expected the Faulkner Family to have such good taste, to have an office location inside the Statue of Liberty.

But the location was indeed excellent because as the elevator climbed, the entire city’s panoramic view was nearly at their feet.

Setting aside other factors, the view was extraordinary.

After about a minute, the elevator came to a stop, and the doors slowly opened to both sides.
