Chapter 121 Intermission: Improvement (Final)
Chapter 121 Intermission: Improvement (Final)
"Yeah, yeah, yeah… what is it? Come on, stop beating around the bush."
"It allows me to create my own form. You know how some of the top families have their own martial arts or their own tree of magic skills that they can wield?"
"Oh, you mean like when your sister says Poseidon's Armory or something?"
"Uh, yeah, I guess… also, how'd you know that? You weren't even at the tournament recently held."
"I'm a big fan," She lightly chuckled, rubbing the back of her head, embarrassed at that piece of knowledge.
"Anyways…" I sighed, activating the skill, allowing a golden ball to glow in the center of my hand. My eyes drifted down to its incredibly bright and shining body, causing both Mari and I to fall into an inescapable trance. We fell further and further into the light of the ball until I found myself standing in a room of bright paleness.
"Huh? What? Where am I?" I heard a voice quiver from behind me, so I quickly snapped my head around, allowing me to see Mari, who began to panic at the endless void of white. It was a bit nauseating just to look at and almost made you question your existence as you stared off into its hypnotizing brightness.
"Hey, it's alright. It's just my skill, although I didn't expect you to get transferred into it as well," I smirked, a drop of sweat sliding down my face as I took a look around.
It wasn't long before I found something other than Mari and, of course, my own body, and it took me by surprise as its appearance was so sudden. A panel floated in front of me, displaying the instructions from which I already knew of.
[Creation of Form has been initiated]
[Please select from the following styles…]
[1. Defensive Form]
[2. Offensive Form]
[3. Support Form]
[4. Movement Form]
"What's wrong?" Mari asked, walking over to me while also keeping a look out at the white abyss around us. It was eerie, and it almost felt like somebody or something was constantly watching us, causing our skin to crawl with goosebumps.
"I thought it would be… more specific, I guess." I proceeded to complain, but upon selecting what I really wanted, the offensive form, I couldn't help but sigh as the options I was just complaining about revealed themselves to me.
[You have selected the Offensive Form]
[What kind of Offensive Form will you like to create?]
[1. Weapon]
[2. Body]
The weapon option was obvious. No matter what you picked, whether it was a super obscure weapon that barely anybody knew about or a very common weapon like the sword, everything would be balanced. I heard this was due to the fact that creating something like this is completely limited by your imagination and own skill. Your stats didn't affect it, but the way you wielded a weapon or how you used it definitely did.
Body wasn't as obvious. It uses the word "body" as a general term when in reality, it's limited to your limbs. You can't create a form that enhances your eyesight or sense of taste, or smell, or touch, or hearing, or any of that. Those would be considered support forms. In addition, this was purely limited to combat, as you cannot create a form that is purely for movement, like a stepping technique that allows you to walk on air.
"Woah, this is cool," Mari smiled, waving her hand through the panels which floated in front of me.
"You can see them?" I asked, some lingering suspicion phasing through my mind. Thoughts and then ideas sprouted from this realization, and before I knew it, I had come up with a cheat code that could potentially help Mari level up a bit in terms of skill.
"Yeah… but it's very… faded? I don't know how to explain it. It's like my own status, yet I can see it… it's pretty strange."
"Do you have this option, but it looks more like your status?"
"Ummm… no," She bluntly responded, making me a bit disappointed, but there was nothing I could do if she didn't have the same option. Also, that would have just been overpowered if one person had the skill and allowed many others to create their own as well without the skill.
But my thoughts didn't stop there. There had to be a reason as to why Mari was let into this blank canvas of a world we were in. There must have been a reason as to why this place was endless. There must have been a reason as to why everything was like this.
[You have selected the Weapon version of the Offensive Form Creation]
[Now, perform the arts you want to create]
Suddenly, a pair of twin daggers dropped into my hands, reacting to my will. And before I knew it, I was immediately swinging away, trying my best to not only recreate the form I used in my past life but improve on it and fill in the holes for the modern-day statuses.
[You have completed a form]
[Will you improve on it?]
"Yes…"
…
"Huff… huff… huff… huff… finally," I gasped for air, falling down on my back and staring up into the blank white abyss above. Mari was right beside me, exhausted as well, as she attempted to recreate my movements, of course under my guidance.
"I only managed to obtain… three of them," Mari heaved, gasping for air right beside me. She nearly fainted as she finally gave up on trying to remain on her knees and collapsed onto her chest right over me. "Sorry…"
As she groaned with exhaustion, she shifted off of my stomach and lay right next to me, staring up at the ceiling.

"You're one lucky kid," I smiled, looking up at the panels signaling the completion of these forms. It wasn't very hard to reobtain them as it was complete muscle memory, although I won't be able to use some of them to their best capabilities.
[You have completed your intended forms]
[Skills have been concentrated into your status]
[Extra: Mari has been identified]
[Mari has been granted partial completion of your forms]
[You will return to the Overworld in Thirty Minutes]
First of all, my body is much shorter as of now, so the way I use them will have to be tweaked for a bit. It shouldn't cause that much trouble when I use them but need to change them and then readjust them later on kind of sounds like a pain.
Also, there was the fact that my body, as of now, wasn't strong enough. In the strength department, my stats were too low. In the defense department, my stats were too low. And most of all, the stat which inhibits the use of most of these skills is my speed… which is way below the required amount necessary to pull off most of these skills.
Now, you might be wondering how I or Mari even managed to obtain them. Well, it's convenient but a good enough reason. My imagination. My imagination and skill was the only thing that limited me, so essentially, in this world of white, I had infinite stats, allowing me to pull off any feat imaginable.
Mari had decent imagination, but after Uranus, she was completely unable to follow my movements due to her lack of skill. She was not a dagger user at all, but even then, if she was, the gap between Uranus and Saturn was so wide that I doubt she would even have a chance at pulling Saturn off.
Thankfully, I still retained most of my skill from my previous life, so pulling these moves off with infinite stats was incredibly easy… until Mercury. Mercury was a skill that, to say the least, sacrificed everything that I have, including part of my soul. For some reason, I was still able to create it due to the strange properties of this white abyss, but it still took incredibly long to pull off.
"How long have we been in here? A couple of days?" Mari asked, not expecting my answer.
"About a week, I'd say."
