Chapter 467: The War In Asgard, V

"Hubris we need to get there, it’s been two days already." Kiro told his mount with a lot of impatience. Your journey continues with empire

Every second they were down there something bad was no doubt happening up there, he couldn’t understand why they were taking so long to get there.

"I know master, the army is almost here. Whatever is happening up there, we are going to turn the tide when we arrive." Hubris tried to reassure him but he was smart enough to know that it was a little bit useless.

Kiro knew this too but that’s not what worried him, if it was the game before then it would have been fine. There was still absolutely no knowing what happens when a player dies in Asgard, do they die in real life, do they only lose their progress like before. It was quite a lot to consider, a lot of unknowns.

This was the only reason he wanted to get back there so soon, otherwise he trusted his friends to keep themselves alive until he brought more armies for them to fight alongside.

The gloomy weather from the game was starting to leak into the underworld too making the world down there more depressed looking than it usually did, an atmosphere that didn’t help his panic calm down.

While Kiro trusted his friends to keep themselves alive, he was worried about his brother and LJ, though he wouldn’t admit it to anyone else, he was worried for Lyle too. He may have told the kid off one too many times but his consistent annoyance has made Kiro see him as someone like Loki.

Just another little brother who gets in your nerves always. Another new player he was worried about was Yuri, he didn’t think Hiro’s family would be able to take another loss if it so happened the game really did kill off players.

"You’re sure you don’t want to meet—"

"No, not now, I wouldn’t be polite enough." Kiro cut off his mount, he was already pacing now if it was before, he could’ve stayed in the underworld for months and no time would have passed but things were very different now.

The young hellhound was still in their midst, in his mind he was hiding pretty well but both his dad and uncle could tell he was eavesdropping, for what, Kiro was not really interested. He had a younger sibling too, so he could understand their insatiable curiosity.

Hubris walked over the well trimmed hedge he was hiding inside of, he simply blew on it and the young well fell on the concrete face first.

"Son, what are you doing here? You know you can’t come with us right?" Hubris had an unusually stern expression.

"Yes father." He answered while his entire demeanor said otherwise, he understood the risks but he still wanted to fight.

Kiro sighed walking towards the father and child, Hubris was still very new to fatherhood, even without kids Kiro had some experience.

"Look kid, your were named after me that also means you have to act right. Don’t embarrass our name, we already sparred and I beat you didn’t I?"

"Yeah, yes you did." He answered almost disappointed.

Despite Kiro’s mood this made him chuckle, it would seem young Kiro hated losing as much as he did which was a good thing to feed his ambition and make him a better leader.

"That’s right, you didn’t have a chance. That’s how it will be up there, your dad and I won’t have time to protect you while also fighting these creatures. But you have an even more important job."

His eyes went from sad to hopeful, he was even wagging his tail.

"What? What is it?"

"Being the oldest, your dad will be leaving you as the leader of the kingdom," Kiro turned to Hubris before he said anything and winked at him. "You have to protect this place and your people, can you do that?"

The more Kiro gave him responsibility the more excited he became. Even as a kid, he wanted to show his father that he was responsible and would be a great choice should Hubris want to step down from the throne.

He didn’t take his namesake’s word for it and instead looked to his father, the king, to confirm what Kiro said to be true.

"It’s indeed so my son, make me proud, alright?" He was obviously not going to leave him entirely in charge that would be careless, he’d have a word with his advisor before leaving and ensure that he teaches his eldest about the going ons and how to handle them.

As soon as this was confirmed he ran back to the castle.

"You’re awfully good at this master, do you have kids?"

"Ehh, something like that."

Hubris was about to ask more about his very vague answer but after hours of Kiro’s self induced panics the armies of the underworld finally arrived at the bridge. They didn’t waste any more time, group by group they disappeared into the sky and right into Asgard.

Kiro and Hubris hadn’t gone yet, they decided to oversee the move together not that the beings from the underworld would defy their king but it didn’t hurt to be cautious.

"Thank you for this, Hubris." He didn’t remember thanking him so he did, even if he had and forgotten he thought it was worth the emphasis.

"You don’t need to thank me master." Hubris wasn’t looking at him as he said, he was keeping an eye on the beings that were using his bridge. "This danger threatens us too, it would be cowardly to not get involved."

"Even so, I’m grateful for you. Now then let’s go and end this once and for all."

Hubris nodded his head and they stepped into the circle and they were immediately sucked up into the sky and falling from another, upon arriving Hubris locked the bridge to ensure nobody stumbled into it.

They landed right at the heart of the battlefield, they were fighting a singular entity and it didn’t look so good. Kiro feel it, the same atmosphere, the same dread the ancient one imprinted on him, just an ounce of it coming from the harbinger they were fighting.

It all took but milliseconds to figure it out and he was already blink stepping towards the danger, his hand vibrating at higher frequencies. Without asking any question, he drove his hand into the creature’s chest destroying everything that was keeping it together.
