Chapter 2011 Not A Scam.
The world god considered her words and said, "Now that's believable. That's how you tell a believable lie. You even almost got me, but I am too experienced and can spot a scam from half a light-year away."
So Legion-0 said, "I swear it on my Supreme law and world that what I said is the truth, and you joining it will cause no repercussions on you. If what I said doesn't come true, then my Supreme law should scatter, and I should die forever."
The world god was taken aback by his oath. It was the most serious oath, and it meant that this strange world god was serious about its proposal. It meant that it might not be a scam after all. The world god wouldn't have believed it if Legion-0 hadn't sworn that she was telling the truth. What's more, she swore about the thing he was most concerned about, which is the repercussions of joining this network artifact. As world gods, the truth is relative from one person to another. Also, anyone can tell the truth, but accidents can happen that will change the outcome. Swearing that you're telling the truth is just a way to fool others and avoid responsibility if something goes wrong later. But swearing to bear the responsibility if what you said doesn't happen means you have the utmost confidence in what you offer and are willing to stake your life on it. As entities that can live through the epochs of the void universe, swearing about the scattering of their supreme law is a serious matter. So the world god is now inclined to believe Legion-0.
He asked, "What do I have to do?"
Legion-0 smiled and said, "It is simple. Just give the artifact we made access to the core of your world."
The world god was already convinced, but he still asked, "Are you sure it is safe?"
Legion-0 frowned and said, "Come on. What's the worst that can happen? You will just lose your inner world. Me, on the other hand, can lose my life. So what are you still afraid of?"
The world god smiled too. "That's true. No amount of promises you give me can compare to your oath. If you can stake your life, then I should be able to stake my world."
Legion-0 said, "Exactly."
Then she took out a white sphere from within her inner world and offered it to the world god. The white sphere had a golden thread connecting it to Legion-0. She asked, "Are you in or out?"
The world god accepted the soul sphere and examined it with interest. He discovered segments of what appeared to be dead a Supreme law, which intrigued him. He asked again just to be sure, "Can I ask how this artifact came about?"
Legion-0 replied, "A world god worked together with a world forge that didn't want to become an Archon to create an artifact similar to the corridor of worlds."
The world god shook his head. "Truly ambitious. It is so ambitious that I can't believe it. But if it is real, then this must be very powerful." He absorbed the soul core willingly and let it reach his inner world. Then he let it reach the core of his world, where his realm heart is.
The soul core fused with it and did nothing else. It didn't try to infect the world god, but this was already enough for the world to be connected to Legion-0. Legion-0 didn't gain anything because he hasn't completely fused with this world god yet. Instead it used the channel between this world and itself to increase the quality of this world. So it was giving without gaining anything. The world god felt the massive improvement in his power immediately and couldn't believe it. He said, "This is unbelievable."
Legion-0 smiled and said, "Congratulations."
He said again, "I still can't believe it even after experiencing it."
Legion-0 said, "See what I told you? Was I not right?"
The world god apologized, "You were right. You were absolutely right. I'm sorry for doubting you."
Legion-0 said, "You're welcome. But I will also gain from this. Like I said, the more world gods that join the artifact, the stronger it will become and the more power we will gain. So this was also done out of selfishness."
The world god was happy to hear that. As a scammer, selflessness is the most suspicious thing. He can be rest assured if there are benefits to be had for everyone.
He is also happy to see that Legion-0 hasn't changed any part of her story now that he has accepted the white sphere. Usually in a plot, this is when the villain shows itself. But that hasn't happened, so he felt relaxed. He even became ambitious. He asked, "Is that so? Does that mean this is not the limit and I will gain more power soon?"
Legion-0 replied smugly, "Yes, there is more to gain. That won't happen if I am here chatting with you, though. I have to convince others to join."
The world god said hurriedly, "Then go on. Don't dilly-dally here."
As she was leaving, the world god stopped her as if he just thought of something and asked, "I also want to help the network and add more world gods to it. Is there a way I can recruit other world gods?"
She shook her head and replied, "Only trusted individuals are given that right. Because you will need to know a lot about the network artifact and be willing to swear on your Supreme law about its authenticity. Can you do that?"
The world god replied, "Maybe after a while when I'm sure."
He just wanted to sell access to the network for money and maybe even scam some world gods with it. Even if there is nothing wrong with the network artifact, he will do some shady things with it that will prevent him from swearing an oath on his supreme law.
