GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2007 Control Freak.

Chapter 2007  Control Freak.

Now that they are world gods, they can use more than one aspect at the same time. Technically, they should be able to use Unity and Time together to fuse with past Legions. That way, the power of Unity won't be limited to 12 of them. But the void universe is blocking them like a wall. Actually, a wall is an understatement. The void universe is more like a constantly growing and endless mountain. They can still use the aspect of Time concerning the present, but anything related to the past is a no-no. They can sense the magnitude of the power stopping them now as world gods. It was so big that it surprised Legion. It didn't feel like something the void universe should be capable of. Legion-8 said, "Either the void universe is a prison or whoever set up the restriction on time is a control freak."

Legion-1 added, "Or both."

Legion-4 agreed. "It can indeed be both. It is not strange for the warden of a prison to be a control freak."

Legion-2 asked, "If that is so, who is the prison for? What or who is being imprisoned?"

They know who the architect of the void universe is. They also know some of the reasons why that person set up the void universe. But there are still some things that baffle them, such as the imprisonment of time. Their minds went back to the sight of the chained figure of the primogenitor of the void universe. It made them shake their heads in wonder. Legion-3 said, "All of these won't matter when we leave the void universe."

Legion-6 agreed. "Yes. But we have to take as much as we can from it first. And we have to be strong enough to withstand that corrosive blood if we hope to be able to survive outside."

Legion-5 considered it and said, "As long as we have the power to rival the void universe, then we can do it. If the void universe can keep itself intact with power and the aspect of Information, we can surely do more with power, Knowledge, and Entropy."

Legion-1 said, "I'm not sure about that. There is also the matter of the Supreme. Surely, the lord of madness must have had a hand in the void universe being capable of resisting the corrosive blood."

Legion-10 said confidently, "The last we know, he was a limitless, which is what we are currently. If he can do it, so can we."

Legion-9 was more reasonable. He said, "We just need to understand what exactly made the lord of madness a Supreme. I'm sure we'll be able to achieve that too when we leave the void universe."

They are already planning how they will leave the void universe. It is because the void universe is a prison and because they can't be content with looting just the void universe. They have to loot other universes too. But the void universe is truly a restrictive place because even tampering with the future and bringing it to the present is nearly impossible to do too. For example, it should be possible for them to summon a future or past version of themselves; unfortunately, the power and energy required is too much for them to achieve. This time, they don't think the void universe is entirely to blame. They believe the fact that they are limitless is the main obstacle to summoning their future. As limitless, even if they do nothing, they will grow stronger with time. So their future version will always be stronger than them.

Influencing something way stronger than them is naturally very difficult. This difficulty is probably why they can't pull a future version of themselves into the past.

Maybe if they were ordinary world gods, they would be able to do it. Also, if the void universe allowed tampering with the past, their future version would be able to tamper with its past, which is their present, so the summoning of their future version will just be their future version assisting its past, not them forcefully bringing something stronger than them into the present where it shouldn't exist. If that were possible, they too would be able to assist their past and change the past. Unfortunately, that isn't possible either. SThe void universe has some blame in their inability to use the aspects of Time and Unity to summon future and past versions of themselves for assistance. The solution to this and many of their problems is acquiring more power. If they want to assimilate the void universe and leave it, they will need more power. So they busied themselves with acquiring more power and Cosmic energy. Apart from the use of Cosmic energy to a limitless like them, it is also the major resource they need to steal Supreme Origin gods from the void universe and turn them into world gods.

A third lesser need for Cosmic energy is to create Authority of the Void Universe. This last use is not their highest priority anymore, though. They would rather spend Cosmic energy on stealing power from the Void Universe than use it to create power that requires the permission of the Void Universe.

The former can't be taken from them while the latter is dependent on the mood of the void universe. So it is clear which one they should prioritize. However, this difference in priority won't matter when they can produce their own Cosmic energy and have an infinite amount of it.

At that point, they won't care about wasting Cosmic energy anymore. They would be able to spend Cosmic energy on stealing Supreme Origin gods and creating the Authority of the Void Universe without worrying about running out. But they are still not going to create the Authority of the Void Universe because it won't help them in defeating the Void Universe, and if they managed to assimilate the Void Universe into Legion, the Authority of the Void Universe will become useless. All these thoughts and more circled through Legion-4's head as he went about kidnapping Supreme Origin gods.
