Chapter 3250: That's My Problem
?
Leaving the name of the confinement aside, no one there understood why it would request their help. It made no sense. "You do know it was us who stopped you, right?"
The Abyssal Soul completely changed its tone. "Hahaha! The past is in the past. Why bother about it? Let us all look into the future, a bright and very free future. What do you say?
Roan frowned deeply, his face showing no trace of joy. "Stop with all the bullshit and speak already. What is it that you are planning? You couldn't possibly come here and expect us to have a solution to your predicament. We don't have the resources to rebuild all those formations again. Even if we did, why would we bother using it for you?"
*Pin!*
[With the addition of the Abyssal Path Detector, the need for a safe way through became a necessity.]
[New Quest Available: Add the Abyssal Soul Innate Ability to use the Abyssal Paths into the System's Control Orb.]
[Reward: The ability to use Abyssal Paths safely.]
If Roan could kick the system, he would probably destroy it completely. Not only him, but so would Rean, who heard the same words from it.
'What the hell is this system even doing? First, it asks us to prevent the Abyssal Soul from escaping. Now it wants us to help it? This is nonsense!' Rean complained with Roan.
Obviously, Roan felt the same. 'One day! One day I will find a way to destroy this piece of shit!' Nonetheless, Sister Orb spoke to the two of them. [Just so that you know, I have nothing to do with it, so don't destroy me in the process, okay?]
Rean and Roan glanced at the orb in the distance. Their eyes betrayed their real feelings. If getting rid of the system could get rid of the annoying sentience, then why not?
[Ahem... don't answer that question. In any case, you are missing the point with this quest.] 'What point?' The twins asked, still not very willing to even entertain the idea.
[What the system asked in the previous quest was to stop the Abyssal Soul from escaping because of the Calamity it would cause. You know the calamity, right? Everyone dying in Closal so it could get enough Spiritual Energy to get free? It was mostly because you two would die in that as well. Anyway, that danger is now gone, so the system doesn't really have a reason to stop the Abyssal Soul from escaping. Instead, it seems like it can make use of the Abyssal Soul now.]
The twins didn't like it but admitted it made sense. They did indeed prevent the calamity from happening. The proof is that the system already paid them those 100 Celestial Points and added the new options in the System Abilities and Upgrades. The payment wouldn't have been given if they hadn't prevented the calamity from happening.
Since that conversation happened through their connection, it only took a second to happen. Roan's expression relaxed a little, waiting for the Abyssal Soul to continue.
"You are correct!" Sure enough, the Abyssal Soul had an idea in mind. "Before, such a method would never work since you weren't here. Or, to be more specific, this black-haired boy wasn't."
Everyone looked at Roan as the Abyssal Soul continued talking. "I failed to notice it at first because I just wanted to get my shard free. That Dark Element of yours... It was able to corrode my Soul Shard. I need that!"
"Dark Element?" Roan didn't believe it straight away. "Why would you need my Dark Element? If you need such a thing, just find any Demon Beast race with Dark Element affinity. There should be some around this planet. If not possible, find someone good at controlling Yin Energy, and this expert should be able to use Yin Energy to gather and use Dark Element as well."
"That won't work," the Abyssal Soul immediately answered. "I don't know why, but your Dark Element is on a completely different level to any other race I've seen in my life. If anyone else had used Dark Element to try to damage my shard, I would have laughed at them. Abyssal Souls are different from the souls of you guys. Perhaps if it was a Divinity Realm expert using it, then it could reach such a result, but you definitely aren't there yet. Besides, it is not like I can call a Divinity Realm expert down here to help me. That would be suicide."
Kentucky and Rean didn't find it surprising. Both of them know that just like Rean has the purest Light Element, Roan has the purest Dark Element. It is true that no one is better than them, and perhaps no one can match them as well. At the very least, they had never seen anyone with a better Dark or Light Element before.
"Oh-ho..." Roan's expression continued cold as ever. "At least you aren't completely clueless. Very well, I admit my Dark Element is somewhat special. So what? Why would I help you?"
In fact, both Rean and Roan already knew what they wanted. If they could add the Abyssal Soul's Innate Ability to use the paths into the system, that would be more than enough for them. After all, it seems to be connected to the Great Void Shifter.
This kind of change caused by others wasn't anything new. For example, back in the Lisan Universe, Celis's innate energy absorption ability affected the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm. It increased the Dimensional Realm's ability to intake cultivation energies from the outside several times.
There was also Hex's time in the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm, which gave the system a new ability to control the time inside through a formation.
Roan only asked that so it wouldn't look like he also wanted it. Perhaps he could even gain something extra from it.
Yet, Foliana didn't like it. "You can't let it out! If you do, it will kill everyone on the planet!"
"Hmph!" The Abyssal Soul snorted. "I couldn't care less about all life in the entire Universe! But! It is exactly because I don't care about them that I wouldn't waste my time killing everyone. I only did what I did to get free. There were no personal feelings involved."
"I'm still waiting to see what you can offer me?" Roan intervened. "Then, you can explain how you intend to use my Dark Element to get yourself free. As for any risks involved, that is my problem to care about."
